    Popular Uses For HDPE Plastic

High-density polyethylene, often known as HDPE, has become very popular because it's used in so many different applications. It's a favorite among manufacturers to create many different products that are actually low in cost. For commercial applications, this plastic stands out from other plastics due to its amazing properties.

    Plastic Containers

Plastic containers are probably one of the most popular uses for HDPE plastic. Plastic containers made from HDPE will protect food and beverages making it the perfect solution for consumers. Many consumers and businesses alike have become very aware of the consequences when plastic ends up in landfills or even worse, thrown on the side of the road. Plastic creates devastating results for the environment, as well as wildlife, resulting in many people looking for better alternatives. The good news, HDPE plastic is recyclable. In turn, items like plastic bottles can be recycled and turned into other products reducing the consumption of plastic.

One reason for using HDPE plastic for bottles and food containers, contaminants will not leak into the containers harming the contents. When ready for recycling, these bottles and containers are cleaned and ready to be turned into other products. HDPE is also an excellent choice for industrial containers holding chemicals, cleaning fluids, agricultural chemical agents, and various other uses because the plastic polymers are strong and resistant to protecting the contents. HDPE polymers can withstand chemicals and not suffer from deterioration or corrosion.

    Plastic Lumber

Manufacturing plants and businesses have invested a lot of time and money in creating a closed-loop HDPE recycling system that will help clean up the environment. There are many high-density recycling companies that offer pick-up services for businesses that produce HDPE in volumes. Because the material is in high demand, you can sell your HDPE scrap for a profit.

    The Advantages Of Using HDPE

There are quite a few advantages to using HDPE as well as recycling plastic. High-density polyethylene can be recycled many times over before it's no longer of any value. Because it's non-biodegradable, this plastic can take several centuries to decompose if simply discarded after just one use.

Recycling HDPE and using it in a recycled form is beneficial to the environment as well as the manufacturing plants. Research has shown that it's a lot less expensive to create a product using recycled material than starting over with new plastic.

Using recycled HDPE saves money for the company by lowering the costs while improving the environment. High-density polyethylene, whether recycled or not, is extremely long-lasting and can be used for many different reasons with excellent results.

    Items Made From Recycled HDPE

High-density polyethylene has become the most popular material on the market. It can be recycled safely and turned into new products. To date, many other products have been made from recycled HDPE. That said, although high-density polyethylene has been approved by the FDA as food-safe, recycled HDPE does not meet these requirements. Even without these requirements, HDPE is long-lasting, safe, and an excellent material in a number of applications.

Recycled HDPE plastic is used for many other containers such as bottles for anti-freeze and chemicals. In the recycled form, HDPE is used to make pens, toys, rope, furniture, picnic tables, trash bins, garbage bins, and benches. It's also used to make plastic lumber, decking, fencing, piping, and other items.

There are many ways to use recycled HDPE to create new products that are needed in our economy. Consumers, manufacturers, and companies are forever working to have eco-friendly alternatives and products available with recycled HDPE. High-density polyethylene will set you apart from your competition.

How Recycled HDPE Products Are Made

In order to recycle HDPE requires a lot of equipment and the knowledge to get it done the right way. Most recycling companies will gather high-density polyethylene products and resell their products to businesses that specialize in the field of recycling.

Once the recycling companies receive the HDPE waste, they apply their recycling techniques to refine their product. Using their procedure, they will create high-quality recycled products they can turn around and sell to plastic manufacturers. This procedure is known as a closed-loop recycling system.

If you are a business owner, there are benefits to signing up with a high-density polyethylene recycling company, You will eliminate the cost associated with waste removal. HDPE recycling can improve your bottom line by selling your scrap materials to an HDPE recycling company which in turn will lower the overall cost of production. On top of that, recycling HDPE containers will attract partners and team members as well as customers. Through the HDPE system, your business will grow while improving the world around us.

    Plastic Lumber

Another excellent HDPE product is plastic lumber. HDPE is made of thermoplastic polymers to offer a high strength-to-density ratio. Plastic lumber is an excellent alternative to natural wood. Natural wood can deteriorate, splinter and crack, and warp when exposed to natural elements such as rain. Except in extreme climates, HDPE plastic lumber will not break or lose its shape but for normal applications, such as residential decking or marine boardwalks, this is not a common occurrence.

Recycled plastic lumber is made from recycled HDPE plastic for its ability, resilience, and strength for structural applications. In some cases, fiberglass and other reinforcement materials are used for reinforcement and additional support for significant projects like coastal retention. Plastic lumber is a desirable commercial material because it will not cave into insect infestation or moisture. Traditional wood will attract termite infestation and weaken whereas plastic wood will not. Plastic lumber is available in various dimensions and specifications. If you want to use HDPE plastic boards, you can cut them, shape them, and finish them just like natural wood. There are no projects, large or small, that plastic wood cannot work with.

    Piping

Your piping system might not be something you pay too much attention to but HDPE is a very dependable material for piping. HDPE is a high molecular weight pipe grade sheet with significantly greater strength and is long-lasting versus other plastics. HDPE piping offers UV resistance for outdoor use. It will stand up to temperatures over 180° F. It's dependable for underground and above-ground applications. Plumbers that deal with chemicals will not be concerned about harmful interplay with these sheets. Also, HDPE will stand up to chemical irritants without any issues.

As you might know, metal pipes have a habit of leaking metals and other elements into the water supply whereas HDPE plastic piping never leaks harmful contaminants. The strong polymer ratio in HDPE is ideal for residential, commercial, and industrial piping systems. HDPE pipes guarantee potable water for residents and the pipes protect against corrosion from steel and therefore a perfect solution for fluids, slurry, and gas functions. Originally, it was believed that these pipe systems would only last for 50 years, but in reality, they would last 100 years before dealing with repair issues.

    Marine And Outdoor Decking

HDPE is excellent for outdoor and marine decking due to its resilience, long-lasting, versatile qualities along with incredible strength. It will resist moisture in all sorts of weather, unlike other materials. HDPE is a material that provides low maintenance so you can have peace of mind bringing furniture to your outdoor deck. This HDPE plastic is strong and resilient to many elements so there will not be any damage incurred.

When it comes to marine decking and boardwalks, HDPE plastic is perfect. It will protect against water damage as it's water-resistant as well as protecting against mold and insects. For waterfront properties, you might look into coastal barriers, residential boat docks, marinas, piers, and light commercial uses. The overall appearance will not let you down either. The wood-like texture and finish will guarantee a beautiful look to your marine dock board with long-lasting qualities and incredible low maintenance.

    Playground Equipment

As children can be rough on playground equipment, HDPE plastic is a great alternative for this equipment. It's extremely easy to clean and will not accumulate dirt or stains. Just apply soap and water to clean it without using a specific cleaning agent. Also, it's a great when using woodworking tools and CNC fabrication techniques. You can cut, shape, and alter the playground equipment while remaining within the specifications.

Due to the HDPE materials' low maintenance, you do not have to paint, stain, or waterproof the equipment. Bugs cannot get into the surface making it perfectly safe for children to play on. HDPE offers a much greater impact resistance than wood can provide. This high-density polyethylene is the best material for all public and playground equipment at school where children will be playing.
