What Is Inlet Protection?
Inlet protection is a sediment control practice that filters stormwater runoff before it enters a storm drain, catch basin, or curb inlet. On any construction site with disturbed ground, runoff picks up soil and debris — inlet protection captures that sediment at the drain so it doesn't clog the storm system or discharge into waterways, keeping the site compliant with local stormwater (SWPPP/NPDES) regulations.

Drop Inlet Protection
For grated drop inlets and catch basins in paved or graded areas. The filter can sit below the grate (Dandy Sack, Streamguard), over the grate (Dandy Bag), or above it for extra overflow capacity in heavy rain (Dandy Inlet Guard).
Curb Inlet Protection

How to Choose Inlet Protection
Matching the device to your inlet is what makes it work — and what keeps it from washing out or bypassing. Three questions get you to the right product:
- What type of inlet is it? Curb inlet (vertical opening in the curb face), drop / grate inlet (horizontal grate water drops through), or field grate (grate in open ground).
