SKU MM-HDPE-18-40-100

Our fence mow strip is made in the USA from 100% High-density polyethylene (HDPE). Available thicknesses of 40 mil, 60 mil and 80 mil (a mil is a 1,000th of an inch). The plastic is also resistant to insect and rodent damage, will not rot/mildew.

The mow strip is installed flat under the fence to prevent weed growth and give a clean mow line at the fence. It is made in both 10” and 18” strips, most customer choose the 18” option and then cut to fit onsite to have the most material to work and customize to their fence line and surrounding objects.

This material is stocked in Kansas City and typically ships within one business day.

Material Thickness:
40 mil = 3/64”
60 mil = 1/16”
80 mil = 5/64”

Note: Our HDPE plastic is only available in roll widths up to 60 inches.

Please note that we are unable to provide custom roll lengths.

The Flexibility WorkingWith HDPE Plastic Sheets

If you are looking for excellent quality materials for containers, packaging, or industrial operations, look no further than HDPE Plastic Sheets. This material has some excellent characteristics that make it perfect for many different applications such as boating components and industrial equipment.

    About HDPE Plastic Sheets

First off, HDPE stands for High-Density Polyethylene. It's a thermoplastic polymer that is well known for its strength, and its stiff, thick characteristics. Made from petroleum, it is one of the most versatile plastic materials on the market to date. This plastic offers high-impact strength, resistance to chemicals, and absorption of low levels of water.

HDPE sheets are sold as solid, flat materials that can also be molded into specific shapes or used for injection molding or 3D printing. Also, because it's a thermoplastic, when exposed to high heat it can be easily shaped and formed as needed.

    Uses For HDPE Plastic

As HDPE is safe for food, it's commonly used in packaging food and beverage bottles. In sheet form, it's used to create cutting boards and food preparation surfaces. It's also used for storage of other liquids such as tanks for water, oil, and waste.

Because HDPE can hold up against impact and friction, it's a chosen for industrial applications like rails and guides in manufacturing facilities. It's very popular in factories or processing centers that work with chemicals or potentially corrosive materials because it will not break down when exposed. HDPE is used in chemical storage and pipes for distributing liquids throughout these facilities.

HDPE is used in many marine applications because of its low water absorption and resistance to high impact. HDPE plastic can be used in rails, trim, and accessories for docks and boats. HDPE holds up really well against outdoor elements and direct contact with water.

These are just a few examples of why many industries are using HDPE. It's also used in nearly any application where strength, moisture resistance, and chemical resistance are mandatory.

The Benefits Of HDPE Plastic Sheets

While several benefits have been noted, it's obvious why this plastic material is incredibly versatile but that's not the only reason why HDPE is so popular. The main qualities that make this product stand out from the crowd for most industry applications include its strength, water, and chemical resistance, and flexibility. Here's a rundown of the top HDPE benefits:

    HDPE Strength

HDPE has a large strength-to-density ratio which means it is resistant to breaking under pressure. It's perfect for holding heavy materials and large amounts of liquids without any signs of damage or wear.

    HDPE Pipes

    Pipes Made of HDPE

    HDPE Density

It's not likely to absorb the materials it's holding which is why it is so well suited as a container for liquids and for marine applications because it's resistant to corrosion, mold, mildew, and rotting. It's incredibly durable in a wide range of environments. It's long-lasting, weather-resistant, and practically immune to many solvents, greases, waxes, and acids.

HDPE is approved for safe use in a number of industries and situations. The FDA, NSF, and USDA have approved industry-grade HDPE as a food-safe material. Therefore, it can be used in containers or preparation surfaces that have direct contact with food and beverages without absorbing moisture or extracting any chemicals or other materials into the contents.

    The Final Word

HDPE is very easy to shape and mold if the rigid sheets are heated to a very high temperature for molding or shaping. Once the material reaches its melting point, it can be molded into just about any shape a project requires. In its normal state as a rigid sheet, HDPE is highly processible or workable using a number of fabrication methods like cutting, deep drawing, routing, welding, riveting, milling, and hot or cold forming.

The Final Word, HDPE Plastic Sheets are one of the finest products on the market for so many different projects and have lived up to its name. HDPE is used constantly in many industries to prevent chemicals from mixing with other elements in the environment and keep production and workers safe. Hopefully, our guide has given you great information to help you decide if this is the right product for you.
