SKU DS-091NDIKIT-

This pre-packaged Trench Drain Kit delivers everything needed for a high-strength, reliable trench drain installation—combining neutral-invert drainage with commercial-grade materials in a single bundle.

  • Complete, Ready-to-Install Kit – Includes the neutral-channel section, two ductile iron grates with fasteners, end outlet, end cap, and grate locks—cuts down installation time and reduces parts to manage.

  • Sturdy & Corrosion-Resistant Grates – Ductile iron grates offer enhanced strength and durability, suitable for heavier duty environments where metal performance is required.

  • Robust Channel Profile – 6″ wide × 4 ft long with a 4.3″ invert depth and 6.1″ total depth—provides solid hydraulic capacity while being rugged in tough conditions.

  • Neutral Invert Design – Flat base (no built-in slope) makes this kit ideal for installations where slope is minimal or precisely controlled.

  • Heavy Load Rating – The system is rated for H-20 vehicular load under proper installation; suitable for driveways, parking zones, patios, and other places expecting vehicular stress.

Steel Grate Option: Galvanized steel grates are also available as an accessory to this kit. Adding a steel grate will reduce the load rating to Class C. Two grates are required per channel.

Note: It is recommended that a bottom drain is installed after each run of 5 connected channels. The bottom drain easily connects to the underside of the channel drain.

Kit Includes:

  • (1) 4.3 in. Deep neutral channel drain section
  • (2) Ductile iron grates with screws
  • (4) ProFit™ grate locks
  • (1) End outlet
  • (1) End cap
  • Screws to attach end component

Applications

  • Captures surface runoff and directs it to a connected drain pipe, preventing property damage, mildew, slip hazards, and concrete staining
  • Ideal for driveways, parking areas, loading docks, pool decks, and other impervious surfaces in residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal settings
  • Integrates with Dura Slope® channel drains, grates, and accessories to safely convey stormwater downstream

Features

  • All-in-one kit eliminates the hassle of searching for parts or making multiple trips to your supplier
  • Pre-packaged for convenience, keeping components organized and preventing lost or misplaced pieces on the job site
  • Modular channel connects easily to additional Dura Slope components with secure tongue-and-groove joints

Trench Drain Kit: Complete Buyer’s Guide, Specs & Installation Tips

A practical, pro-level guide to selecting and installing a Trench Drain Kit with neutral-invert channels, heavy-duty grates, and H-20-capable assemblies for driveways, parking zones, patios, and retrofit projects.

What Is a Trench Drain Kit?

This pre-packaged Trench Drain Kit delivers everything needed for a high-strength, reliable installation: a neutral-invert channel (flat base—no built-in slope), two grates with fasteners, end outlet, end cap, and grate locks. In plain terms: fewer parts to chase, faster installs, and predictable results.

What’s Included

  • Channel: 6″ wide × 4 ft long; 4.3″ invert depth; 6.1″ total depth
  • Grates: Two ductile iron grates with fasteners + grate locks
  • Terminations: End outlet and end cap

Why Neutral Invert?

Neutral invert lets you control slope with the subgrade, not the channel—ideal for flat sites or tight retrofits where elevation control matters. Set a gentle fall toward the outlet during base prep and you’re good to go.

Specifications, Options & Load Ratings

Attribute Detail
Channel Size 6″ wide × 4 ft long per section
Depth 4.3″ invert; 6.1″ total
Profile Neutral invert (flat base)
Included Grates Ductile iron (with fasteners & grate locks)
Vehicular Rating H-20 (with ductile iron grates and proper installation)
Accessory Option Galvanized steel grates (reduces rating to Class C); two grates required per channel
Terminations End outlet + end cap included
Drainage Tip Install a bottom drain after every 5 connected channels (~20 ft)

Grate Selection—Quick Guide

  • Ductile Iron: Best for driveways/parking—maintains H-20 rating.
  • Galvanized Steel: Budget-friendly for patios/walkways—rated Class C.

Installation Steps (Pro-Level, Plain English)

  1. Plan the run: Mark start/end points and outlet. With neutral invert, the base sets fall.
  2. Excavate: Width to allow concrete encasement (per engineering/manufacturer guidance).
  3. Prepare base: Compact and level; form a concrete bed if required. Set elevations to ensure positive drainage.
  4. Dry-fit sections: Connect 4-ft pieces; confirm male/female joints and outlet orientation.
  5. Set & anchor: Place channels to grade. Install grate locks/fasteners (final torque after cure if specified).
  6. Concrete backfill: Pour and vibrate to remove voids; protect openings; maintain top-of-grate elevation.
  7. Terminate & connect: Install end cap and end outlet; connect to storm piping.
  8. Every ~20 ft (5 channels): Add a bottom drain for maintenance and steady flow.
  9. Finish: After cure, torque hardware, place grates, and hose-test flow.

Load rating note: H-20 assumes correct substrate thickness, strength, and reinforcement—coordinate with a licensed engineer for vehicular areas.

Where This Kit Shines

  • Driveways & parking pads with routine vehicle traffic
  • Patios, courtyards, walkways near thresholds and grade changes
  • Retrofits where built-in slopes won’t fit existing elevations

Case Study: Flat Driveway Fix with Neutral-Invert Kit

Site: Suburban home with a near-flat (≈0.25% fall) concrete driveway draining toward the garage.

Problem: During 2″ rain events, water ponded at the threshold and entered the garage. Re-grading the slab was cost-prohibitive.

Solution

  • Installed a 24-ft run (six 4-ft channels) across the apron using the Trench Drain Kit.
  • Chose ductile iron grates to preserve H-20 rating for vehicles.
  • Added a bottom drain after each 5-channel segment for cleanouts and consistent flow.

Outcome

  • Eliminated water ingress during heavy storms.
  • Reduced standing water from ~30 minutes to <5 minutes after rainfall.
  • Avoided slab demo—saved time and budget.

FAQ

Do I need built-in channel slope?

No. With neutral invert, you create fall in the base/subgrade—ideal for flat sites and precision control.

How often should I add a bottom drain?

After every 5 connected channels (~20 ft) for easier maintenance and improved flow.

Will this handle vehicles?

Yes—use ductile iron grates and follow proper installation to meet H-20 vehicular loads.

Can I swap to galvanized steel grates?

Yes, but the rating drops to Class C (better for patios/walkways). Order two grates per channel.
